Update on our life as the Lewans so far....

We  finally graduated....
It felt good to finally graduate from CMU a week before we got married.  We loved Central and it felt weird to leave the place we spent the last 4 years of our lives.  This is the place where we met our best friends, faced the biggest challenges, and met the love of our lives.  Who knows where we would be today if either of us had not decided to go to Central?

On another awesome note.....WE FINALLY GOT MARRIED!!!!

Yay!!!!

December 18,  2010

They say that a wedding goes by so quickly, and holy cow is that true!  It is so crazy how fast it went by.  We had about 230 people show up for our wedding.  Only 2 people did not show up (the 2 that did not show up were really sick)...the Reception Hall says they have never seen a wedding where just about everyone shows up!  (Who would have thought with it being only a week before Christmas?) We were overwhelmed with the feeling of truly being blessed with AWESOME people in our lives.  The wedding was so much fun and we just wish we could keep experiencing it over and over again.

We went to Tennessee for our honeymoon, which was really great!  It was good to get away from all the school, wedding, and internship stress and go be a married couple.  We rented a house 3,000 feet up in the Smokies.  It was beautiful.  We went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum, Ripley's Aquarium, and Guinness Book of World Records Museum (which were all super awesome!)  We also saw Cirque Chine (kind of like Cirque Soleil), and we still cannot comprehend how the performers move their bodies like that.  Lastly, we went on a beautiful day hike through the Smokey Mountains.  It was sad to come back to Michigan.  haha.

We are now living in my grandpa's house (he is now back in Florida).  We are grateful to have a house all to ourselves as newlyweds.  We are basically just organizing our lives, hanging out with friends and family, tackling all the thank-you notes, packing for Africa, and visiting Panera Bread Co. often (they have free internet).

The plane tickets are officially bought for Africa and we CANNOT wait to leave.  We even got our International driver's licenses today...now we just need to perfect our stick-shift driving skills.

Thank you for all your continued support.  We will be sure to keep you updated!  :)

Peace & Love,
Alicia and Dan Lewan

  1. Dan and Alicia,
Your plans and activities sound like mine right now: plane tickets, international driver's licenses, packing...can't wait to hear about your life in Africa as I live mine! And hopefully come visit you :)
    Love,
    Kate
P.S. I'm so glad to hear things are going well.

  2. I had a great time at your wedding. You two are such great people with amazing hearts for God. People see that and are drawn to you. I'm so proud of all that you're doing in Africa. I love you both and I'm so proud to call you my friends!
